Audio station: Let your voice be heard – speak for yourself

Participation wanted

Where and how have we been or are we perhaps still prevented from speaking for ourselves? Being able to speak. Being allowed to speak. And who is doing this to us?

And the other way around: where and how have we been or are we asked for our opinion? Encouraged to express ourselves? What kinds of empowerment and reinforcement have we experienced? Who has supported us?

In a project with young people from Cologne and the surrounding area, we have asked our young participants to share their experiences and perspectives with us. Perhaps their thoughts can help us come up with ideas for creating open-minded, supportive spaces where everyone feels like they can have their say.

In a mobile recording station set up especially for the festival in front of the theatre, visitors will find a safe, comfortable space that they can enter alone or in pairs. All festival visitors are welcome to stop by and open up about their own experiences.

These contributions will be added to the audio loop, which will continue to grow in size and abundance with each passing day of the festival: WESTWIND, we’ll be hearing from you.

Project accompaniment: Bahar Abnar, Marzia Fluck and Hanna Westerboer
