Paper: It crinkles and rustles, can be folded, waded into a ball and torn apart. It is pliable, shapeable and sharp enough to give us cuts. Paper comes in many colours, sizes and thicknesses. It is typically used for writing and printing, but also for painting and crafting. Together with dancer Sonia Mota and composer Jörg Ritzenhoff, Cologne-based choreographer Barbara Fuchs ventures into a paper jungle. They use paper to render changes, external influences and temporal sequences visible: Paper “remembers” every fold, every tear, every cut. And just as traces of external influences are inscribed on paper, our bodies bear the marks of our experiences and impressions – in the form of scars, blemishes and wrinkles. Together, they navigate the paper jungle and share their stories through live sound and movement.

tanzfuchs PRODUKTION was founded by choreographer Barbara Fuchs in 2003. Under this label, she has developed more than 30 productions that focus on the interconnection between movement, composition and the space.
