family theatre day

Visit us on Sunday, 16 June 2019 for our grand family theatre celebration. From morning till night, five exceptional theatre productions from El Salvador, France, Nicaragua and NRW will be on display for everyone.
In between, inventor Jens Burde will invite visitors to help him devise, build and test out a bridge made of wood, an igloo made of cardboard and a tepee made of bamboo. Children can do face painting and hairdressing to the adults.
There will be plenty of opportunities to colour, play, hop, skip & jump, fish rubber ducks from a fountain, make WESTWIND whirligigs and twirl ribbons. Or stop by the selfie station for a chance to dress up and snap pictures with the actors. The next generation participants will have a few surprises up their sleeves and Dorothee Metz will present minuscule theatre for just one spectator and there will be candyfloss and WESTWIND-waffles for all.

Food preparation can be fun at the dicey disco, where you can chop, dice & snip your food to the beats of DJane Heat Légère. And Dutch chef Wam Kat will then use those snippets to conjure up a delicious meal.
Family Theatre Day (last celebrated in 2017 in Moers) is once again part of the nationwide initiative “Die offene Gesellschaft” (“The Open Society”; On 16 June, just one day after the initiative’s official celebration, we will welcome the urban community to our tent and our table.
To wrap up Family Theatre Day, join us as we present Compagnie Defracto’s production "Flaque" on the big stage of großes Haus.
