Code of Conduct WESTWIND 2025

Code of Conduct for WESTWIND Festival 2025 in Düsseldorf

At WESTWIND Festival, everyone should feel as welcome as possible. That’s why we want all festival participants to treat each other with respect and esteem to ensure a good time can be had by all.

We know that we are all different. For the well-being of all participants, we ask you to read and comply with this code of conduct:

  • No one should be treated meanly or unfairly—for example, due to their skin colour, gender, religion, heritage, disability or language. Because people speak different languages in different ways, with their voice or with gestures.
  • Please speak about the plays that you have seen in a constructive manner. All theatre makers at Westwind come from different structures and work with their own aesthetics.
  • Please respect the boundaries of others. And your boundaries should likewise be respected. A boundary is when someone says “no” or feels uncomfortable.
  • A person’s answer must be accepted. Only when someone says “yes” does that mean “yes”.
  • Sometimes it can be difficult to say “no”. If you want to talk to or touch a person, when in doubt, ask whether the person agrees to the interaction. This also applies when taking a photo or video of another person.
  • If you need peace and quiet, you can withdraw at any time. There is a quiet area for this purpose at each of the host centres.
  • The aim is for no one to have a bad experience at Westwind Festival. If that happens, we can all do something about it. For example, by talking to each other, apologising or getting help.
  • The ThereForYou team is available for you by phone every day from 9 am to 10 pm and can be recognised by their pink waistcoats. The telephone number is displayed at all venues. The FürDichDa team consists of employees from the three host centres.

You can contact the ThereForYou team if...

  • you are overwhelmed by a situation.
  • your “no” was not accepted by someone.
  • you experience abusive and/or discriminatory behaviour.
  • you have observed abusive and/or discriminatory behaviour.
  • you need another person to talk to or a place to go.
  • you need emotional support.
  • everything is getting to be too much for you and you need peace and quiet.
  • you are not sure how you should behave.

The ThereForYou team  is open to conversations and questions and will support you without making you justify, explain or prove anything.

We look forward to a great festival week with you at Westwind 2025.

Your Westwind team
