Watch out, it's about to get loud! Imagine you want to go to the theatre, but suddenly find yourself on a construction site because the theatre is being demolished. The construction workers there don't really know what's going to be built in its place either. They follow instructions from the top when suddenly the construction site comes to life. A hole, a concrete mixer and a wall try to stop the demolition of the theatre at the last moment, causing a major crisis on the construction site. How do the construction workers deal with this? Will they find a solution to the problem?
PINSKER+BERNHARDT, together with equipment and vehicles, a large maw, a pipe and a wrecking ball, bring to the stage what it means to face demolition but have to carry on together.
Junges Schauspielhaus Bochum has been around since 2000 and has had its own venue, the Theaterrevier, since 2020. Its programme is characterised by new narrative formats for a modern and diverse urban society. In addition to offering plays for the whole family, Junges Schauspielhaus gives children, teens and adults the opportunity to band together in theatre troupes (so-called “gangs”) and develop artistic productions of their own. Theaterrevier provides a space for exploring new methods and concepts of theatre development. To this end, a 15-member children’s and youth supervisory board, Drama Control, was founded whose members (aged 5-21) can suggest themes and help shape projects.
