Amidst a steaming samovar, wobbly chairs and fading memories, Can prepares the çay, just as he does every day. He tries to hold on to what once was: his father’s legacy, the scent of belonging, a sense of home. But today, there is something in the air. The past does not remain silent. The present asks questions. And the future is knocking – louder than Can would like. “Çay – A Story of Home” tells of origins, responsibility and the search for identity – caught between the desire to belong and the courage to face oneself. A powerful narrative, captured in the scents of a Turkish tea house in Cologne.
c.t.201 is an independent theatre company based in Cologne. We create accessible theatre for young audiences – works that are emotional, political and rooted in an approach that takes young people’s realities seriously. At the heart of our work are perspectives often absent from mainstream discourse – queer, migrant and feminist voices. Our work combines documentary research with poetic intensification and collective processes with aesthetic precision. Our themes are not a cause – they are a starting point.
