Sunday, 1 June, from 2-6pm
A new cultural district has emerged that extends from KAP1 (FFT Düsseldorf/Central Library) via Central Courtyard (Junges Schauspiel / Stadt:Kollektiv) and Worringer Square (WP8, FREIBAD, Kreativ RaumD, House of Friends and much more) through the Erkrather Street underpass to tanzhaus nrw.
Visitors can look forward to a street festival with a dance performance from Korea and drama from NRW.
And to our “Worringer Weekender” on and around Worringer Square—full of live music, parties, performances and exhibitions from Friday evening to Sunday afternoon. On these days, the cultural district will light up in many colours and in many languages for the first time! Throw yourself into the hustle and bustle and discover one of the most exciting corners of Düsseldorf with new eyes.
At the street festival there will be:
- Activities in front of KAP1 with the Forum Freies Theater team: upcycling crafts, a cake bazaar, a chill zone and much more.
- Activities in front of CENTRAL, the new venue of Junges Schauspiel: a theatre performance, improv theatre, “Move It!” to dance along to, neighbourhood tours with actors and a neighbourhood quiz.
- Activities in front of Tanzhaus NRW: participatory formats, a theatre performance, youth company gatherings and much more.
- Throughout the cultural district: a graffiti event with a DJ at Erkrather Street underpass, interactive graffiti/DJ/rapping sessions in front of WP8, rickshaw taxis, foam artworks in the “outdoor pool”, a sports activity bus with a soccer cage and bungee jumping, mini flea markets, exhibitions, magicians, performance artists & acrobats, a box slide, market stalls with non-alcoholic cocktails and popcorn, face painting and dress-up opportunities, darts, football, welcoming play & chill areas complete with tables, lounge chairs and much more.
The street festival for young and old is a cooperation between the Westwind Festival 2025 (Junges Schauspiel, FFT Düsseldorf, tanzhaus nrw), WPKultur, the Office for Social Affairs and Youth of the state capital Düsseldorf and many local residents. WPKultur is being realised as part of the KreativRaumD project. KreativRaumD is a cross-departmental funding project of the city of Düsseldorf and is supported by the federal programme ‘Sustainable Inner Cities and Centres’ of the Federal Ministry of Housing, Urban Development and Building (BMWSB).
